Our acquisition of Clifford Dann, an established firm of Chartered Surveyors, follows the decision of the Partners, Jim Groves and Mike Hudson, to gradually retire. Both are now part-time Consultants working with Graves Son & Pilcher.

The move has enabled GS&P to expand into the Central Sussex and Lewes area, sharing our expertise with a new client base, including landlords, tenants, private clients, developers and investors.

Clifford Dann’s offices on Albion Street in Lewes have now closed and their clients have been transferred to our experienced team here at 51 Old Steyne.

“We didn’t want the Clifford Dann name to just disappear from the High Street and we didn’t want to leave our long-standing clients in the lurch,” said Jim Groves. “We looked for a firm with as much expertise as ours - a ‘one-stop shop’ that could offer the full complement of services that Clifford Dann provides, and in the same bespoke way. Graves Son & Pilcher are renowned for giving ethical advice, accurate valuations and understanding the complexity of landlord and tenant legislation. They’re ARMA and RICS accredited, which is important for the portfolio of mixed residential and commercial properties that we’ve built up over the years. They were the obvious choice.”

The commercial team at Graves Son & Pilcher has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we’re delighted at the opportunities this deal brings. Clifford Dann’s founder was highly regarded not only in Sussex but in wider surveying circles. Past President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Honorary Member of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and founding member of Arbrix (Chartered Surveyors Arbitrators) were just a few of his many accolades. It’s an honour for GS&P to have been chosen to continue the firm’s legacy.
